ROVERS TO SIGN BYRON MOORE FROM PORT VALE

17 June 2016

Darrell Clarke today made pacey forward Byron Moore his second signing of the transfer window.

Moore joins the club on a free transfer having opted against signing a new deal with League One rivals Port Vale.

After graduating from the infamous Crewe Alexandra academy, Moore made his first team debut for “The Alex” in August 2007. This was swiftly followed by signing a three-year contract in September 2007.

Played as a striker for the first three years of his career, Byron was moved to the wings for the 2010-11 season, and impressed in his new position.

In 2011-12, he played a key role in a Crewe Alexandra team that won promotion to League One, and scored their second goal in a 2-0 play-off final victory to seal it. He also provided both assists a year later, in the 2012-13 Football League Trophy final, as Crewe beat Southend United 2-0 at Wembley to lift the cup.

His Crewe career ended with an impressive 262 appearances, and 30 goals, before he joined Port Vale in the summer of 2014.

Following 51 appearances and four goals in League One over two seasons for The Valiants, Moore joins Rovers having decided against a stay with the club that finished 12th last season. Speaking to us upon joining the club, Moore said:

“I am over the moon to be joining Bristol Rovers, a traditional club with a fantastic following. I’m looking forward to working with manager Darrell [Clarke] and his staff, at a club very much on the up. I would also like to thank the staff and the fans at Port Vale for their support over the last two seasons”.

The addition of an attacker with over 100 games at League One level will no doubt be invaluable to manager Darrell Clarke’s squad for the coming season, as Rovers look to build upon last season’s promotion.
