SHAUN NORTH LEAVES THE CLUB

23 April 2013

Assistant manager will not have his contract renewed

Bristol Rovers have today announced that Shaun North will be leaving the club.

The assistant manager has been told that his contract will not be renewed, and that he can leave the club with immediate effect.

Manager John Ward confirmed that he would like to bring in a new face to fill the role before the start of pre season training.

He said: “I would like to thank Shaun for his help and support over the last four months.

“However, I felt the club need to go in a different direction off the pitch, and I am hoping to introduce a new face for the start of pre season.”

Shaun joined Bristol Rovers in the summer of 2011 as assistant manager to Paul Buckle.

When Buckle was relieved of his duties at the start of 2012, Shaun stepped up to take temporary control, and was in charge when Aston Villa visited the Memorial Stadium for the third round of the FA Cup.

Chairman Nick Higgs said: “We would like to thank Shaun for all his hard work over the last three years.

“He is an extremely hard worker, and has always stepped up to help during periods of transition.

“We wish him every success for the future and hope he can continue a successful career in football.”

Marcus Stewart will step up to take on the assistant manager job for Saturday’s trip to Torquay.
