NEAL TROTMAN AGREES A SHORT TERM DEAL

7 August 2014

Defender keen to earn a full contract

Neal Trotman has agreed a short term deal with Bristol Rovers.

The central defender has been training with Rovers during pre-season and was involved in the games against Bath and Yeovil.

Manager Darrell Clarke said: “Neal has agreed a short term deal to earn himself a full time contract.

“He played a full season at Plymouth last year, but has missed a couple of weeks of pre-season with a badly infected toe.

“He has been great in the changing rooms, and it is testament to the lad, as he had offers on the table of longer terms, but he wants to take his chance at Bristol Rovers and earn himself a full time contract.”

The 27-year-old was released by Burnley at the age of 18 and soon joined Oldham Athletic.

In 2007 he spent time on loan at Halifax, picking up some experience of Conference Football.

In January 2008 he signed a three year deal with Preston North End, and during his time there, he had loan spells at Colchester, Southampton, Huddersfield and his old club Oldham.

During his spell at Huddersfield in 2010, he made 23 appearances scoring twice and helping them to a League One Play-offs semi-final.

In the summer of 2011 he joined Rochdale on a two year deal. He went out on loan to Chesterfield in November of that year, with the deal being made permanent in January 2012.

After being released by Chesterfield, Trotman had trials at a couple of Scottish clubs, before joining Plymouth on a short term deal, which was later extended until the end of the season.

An interview with Neal will be available on our You Tube channel shortly.
