A CHAT WITH WOODARDS AND MILDENHALL

17 April 2014

Comments from this morning's press call

Today we spoke to Steve Mildenhall and Danny Woodards ahead of a massive four games for Bristol Rovers.

Both players were confident that Rovers could do enough to remain in the Football League next season.

Here is a brief extract of what they had to say.

Mildendhall: “Sometimes in these situations talk can be cheap, our actions have to be what counts. It is in our hands, and we cannot worry about other people. We know what we need to do to be safe, and we have to get on and do it.

“Our support has been outstanding all year. Obviously last week people were aggrieved, and rightly so, and at times I think players probably need fans to let them know how they feel.

"But we know that come Saturday afternoon there will be plenty of them there at Fratton Park, and what we need to do is make sure we do the right things to give them something to keep cheering about.

“If I am not confident and no one else is confident then we shouldn’t be playing any of the games. I am positive we have enough in that room, that if we do things right and believe in each other, we will get the results that we need to.”

Woodards: “We have got to stick together and do the best we can. We have a good bunch of lads here, so we have to go and do the job. It is a massive game on Saturday and we have to chuck everything at it.

“We have to keep positive and keep doing what we are doing, and hopefully it will work out.

“This is a massive club, especially with the new stadium coming – you don’t want to be playing in the Conference. It is massive that we stay in this league. Everyone is going to fight to be in the league next season. We have a good squad and a good backing, and if we all stick together I think we can do it.”
