MARCUS TALKS AHEAD OF DARTFORD FIXTURE

29 January 2015

Assistant Manager talks ahead of this weekend's fixture

Following a second weekend without a fixture this season Rovers travel to Dartford this weekend with Assistant Manager Marcus Stewart telling us the squad cannot wait to get back onto the pitch.

"The lads are really hungry for it and they have shown that over the past two weeks or so where we haven't had a game.

"They are eager to get out there and play because it has been a long time.

"As a squad we would like to play at least a game a week but I think the team needed the first break.

"After a busy festive period it was good to recharge the batteries but when it happens again it is frustrating because you want to play more games than two in one month.

"It will be good for everyone to get back out there and get some momentum into the team for the remaining games of the season.

This weekend's opponents Dartford are currently scrapping for points at the wrong end of the table which is why Marcus says that it won't be an easy game.

"We've had them watched and we know what they are all about.

"It going to be a tough game and we are going to have to assess the conditions and go from there.

"No game is the same and you have to approach them all in different ways but the players we have here are brilliant and they all understand what is needed to get the points.

"It's going to be a good physical game and this squad can adapt and play the type of game that is needed to get the win.

Steve Mildenhall returned to the squad against Woking for the first time since his knee injury at Wrexham and Marcus is really happy with how competitive it is for places throughout the whole squad.

"The situation is that we have two great goalkeepers competing for one place which is brilliant for us.

"Steve [Mildenhall] has been the first choice keeper for most of the season but Will [Puddy] has come in and kept three clean sheets in four games which is what we need.

"All of the squad are professionals and know that the manager will pick the right team for each game.
