The Rovers v City charity game returns for another year

A host of former Rovers stars will be returning to the Memorial Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday to take part in a charity football match.

The game will be a local derby with Bristol Rovers legends taking on a team of former City players and local celebrities, and tickets are now on sale.

Money raised from the event will be split between four fantastic local charities the Children's Hospice South West, It's In The Bag, B.U.S.T and The @One Youth Movement.

The match on Monday May 5th, will see local celebrities line up alongside Rovers and City legends, with supporters able to buy sponsorship opportunities and places in the team. 

The charity match which is now in its forth year is organised by 'Kicking out for Kids', an organisation whose sole objective is to raise money for the care and support of children and their families with life-limiting, or life-threatening illnesses. 

Stars who are set to play for the Rovers 11 include former Rovers legends; Jamie Cureton, Barry Hayles and Craig Hinton.

The celebrities playing for Rovers include; DJ Roni Size, Geoff Barrow from the band Portishead and boxer Glenn Catley.

City legend Scott Murray will be putting the red shirt back on for the day, and will be joined by actor Joe Simms, weatherman Alex Beresford and chef Dean Edwards.

The game will be kicked off by BBC Points West's Alex Lovell.

There will be a variety of activities on offer before and during the match with ice creams and burgers aplenty. The match itself is due to kick-off at 2.30pm and attendees are advised to arrive at the Memorial stadium at 1.30pm to ensure you get the pick of the seats. 

Tickets cost £5 for adults and £2 for children, and will be available in advance from Bristol Rovers or on the day.
