GOW ON HIS DEBUT

8 February 2014

Alan happy with his first start for Rovers

Alan Gow was pleased to get his first game for Bristol Rovers under his belt this afternoon.

The forward made his debut for Rovers after signing on loan late yesterday, and he enjoyed his opening performance for the Gas.

He said: “I enjoyed the game today. It was not great conditions, but I thought we deserved at least a draw as we tried to play a bit more football than them.

“I thought we were the better team even before they scored.”

The 31-year-old was keen to make the move to Rovers, despite our position in the league.

He said: “This is a massive club and I am looking forward to playing here for the rest of the season, and hopefully getting a win on Tuesday night.

“It was a good deal for Rovers and Exeter and I spoke to my family and we decided it was a good move for us for the future.”

Gow says that he prefers to do more running with the ball, but obviously conditions today made that difficult.

He said: “My game is a lot more about running with the ball, but the with the conditions you couldn’t really do that today.

“But I thought I did ok in my first game and I played a few different positions and thought I fitted in well.

“The boys treated me great and I am looking forward to getting started at training next week.

“I prefer to play up front in a two or just behind the striker. This season I have played in right midfield for most of the season.

“I like to play passing football, and the boys managed to find me with some good passes when I moved into that hole and picked up the ball in spaces.”
