FOCUSING ON YOUTH

17 December 2014

A closer look at our younger players!

'Focusing on Youth' is going to be a recurring fixture on the website where we take a closer look at some of the younger members of the Bristol Rovers set up, this week it is the turn of Laurent Davis-Wilson.

LAURENT DAVIS-WILSON

Few have spent more time with Rovers than Laurent Davis-Wilson has.

The 18-year-old joined the then Centre of Excellence in the U-9 set up, but took some convincing, after being approached a year earlier, he decided he wanted to continue playing with his friends at Bristol United before eventually joining.

Davis-Wilson has dreams of becoming a professional footballer, and has got himself four goals in 19 appearances so far this season. He assesses his passing as equally proficient as his shooting abilities, but would like to improve upon his heading ability and strengthening his un-favoured left foot.

The striker sees himself as a keen student of the game, and can often be found following the Premier League’s best strikers, watching a great many games to pick up tips for his own performance. Davis-Wilson claims to have learnt a great deal from every coach he has played under, but most notably former Rovers strikers Dave Gilroy and Marcus Stewart.

He says his biggest influence on his career so far is his mum, and his top three dinner guests would be Lionel Messi, Pep Guardiola and Arsene Wenger.
