DARRELL - TEAM SPIRIT FANTASTIC

1 October 2014

Rovers boss Darrell Clarke praised the effort displayed by his side in last nights 1-1 draw with Eastleigh and insisted his men deserved the point.

“We changed it around in the second half to a 3-4-2 and it worked a treat and we got the goal our hard work deserved.

“To come here with 11 men it is difficult enough and then to play 60 minutes with 10 is a real testament to my players.

“We still tried to win the game, obviously it is difficult but I always thought they were aware of us at the back and maybe on another night we might have nicked it.

Ollie Clarke scored Rovers goal of the game from 35 yards, however was then sent off during injury time in the second half.

“It was a great strike from Ollie Clarke, unfortunately he gets sent off late on which of course is disappointing but it gives one or two other members of the squad an opportunity for Saturday.

“His work rate, his effort, his desire, he cares about the football club and he works hard for the football club and that’s what supporters want to see.

“We’ve got goals throughout the team which can only benefit us.

“The spirit we now have throughout the team and throughout the football club is fantastic.

Having set a league attendance record for Eastleigh with a crowd of 2,621 Darrell was impressed at the number of travelling supporters.

“The support we had here tonight was absolutely incredible and I think all the supporters could appreciate the effort of the boys.
