Darrell on pre-season
Darrell Clarke says he hopes to make a decision on the trialists at the club during the early part of the week.
The manager will be taking a first team squad to Yeovil, and hopes that Ryan Brunt will play some part.
He said: “I expect to make a decision on the trialists we have here during the early part of the week.
“We have two more games this week, so we will see how things go.
“It will be a first team squad going to Yeovil, with a couple of trialists. Neal Trottman will probably come so I can have another look at him.
“We are going to have a look at Michael Smith in training today, as obviously he has had an ongoing slight injury problem.
“We will see how he is on the training ground, but I will not be taking any risks with him.
“Touch wood Ryan Brunt will make it through training today, and will be involved tomorrow night.
“I will be happy if I can get two or three 90 minute performances into my first team squad before the season – as that is where it all counts.”
And the manager says he has been pleased with the way pre-season has been shaping up so far.
He said: “I have been really pleased the lads and the first year pros, they have worked really hard.
“In the three weeks we haven’t picked up any serious injuries, just one or two niggles, as you would expect.”
