DARRELL - FOCUS IS KEY

2 October 2014

Tuesday nights 1-1 draw with Eastleigh displayed the character of the team and Darrell praised the effort levels of his players.

“I thought the spirit of the players on Tuesday night was tremendous.

“It is always difficult with 10 men, but when you are a goal down against 11 it’s even more difficult.

“For the boys to come back and get a goal and hold on for the point and actually go looking to get all three it is a testament to their character on that particular night.

“We have to do that every single game and that is the demand that we put on each other.

“It’s very important that yes, it was a battling performance but I want to be saying the same thing on Saturday."

Rovers will be without first choice keeper Steve Mildenhall following his red card at the Silverlake Stadium Tuesday night and Darrell stated that his has confidence replacement Will Puddy’s ability.

“We’ve looked at it [Mildenhall’s red card] and we aren’t going to appeal it. The referee has put it down as a professional foul so Mildy will take the games suspension.

“I think Puddy grew into the game on Tuesday, he is a player who knows the level well and he will come in for the game on Saturday.

“He played a full season in this league last year and he will fit in no problems."

Darrell also said that some of the clubs injured players could make an appearance this weekend but kept his cards close to his chest.

“I always have to make selection decisions, it was disappointing the Ollie [Clarke] picked up a couple of yellow cards, but he is a fully committed player.

The next task for Rovers is preserving their unbeaten home record in the league but the manager insists that the team cannot get overconfident.

“I think we are getting to the stage where we can’t let complacency set in. It’s one game Saturday, so we need to take care of Saturday.

“Dover come here having beating Aldershot 3-0, Chris Kinnear teams are always very organised and well drilled.

“We need to respond in the right way, that it’s Dover but it is just another game.

“Results in mid-week show that anyone can beat anyone in this league so we just have to keep focused."
