Lee Brown talks about the weekend off, scoring goals and keeping clean sheets
The fixture list has thrown up some interesting things this season and with the interruption in this seasons league campaign by the FA Trophy, the Rovers squad faced another weekend without a competitive fixture which has frustrated Lee Brown."It's really tough because you don't want to lose that momentum that we got over the Christmas period because the boys picked up some really good results and you just want to keep playing.
"I think the first weekend off was good for everyone after that hectic spell of games just to recharge the batteries but the second weekend of is really annoying because we just want to get back playing week in week out now.
"You never know, it might work in our favor because we are all itching to play now and hopefully that comes out against Dartford on Saturday.
Lee missed a couple of games over the Christmas period but tells us that he has never really been out of the side for a long period of time due to injuries.
"I've had a couple of little ones that have kept me out for a few weeks but nothing major and touch wood I've been pretty lucky with that but that can all change in an instant.
"I don't take anything like that for granted so I just keep doing my extra work just to try and maintain my body as best I can.
This is Lee's fourth year at the club and the Rovers full back says that this is his most enjoyable period at the club.
"The first three years here were tough, we always had really high expectations and rightly so but things didn't happen and we have struggled.
"We've had good spells here and there but on the whole it's not been up to scratch.
"This year we're doing well, but nothing is won in January and we've got to do it for the whole season and not just six months.
"Confidence is in everyone now and it really helps my game out, if we're playing well then I'm doing well because I can get forward which is something I really enjoy.
"Everyone likes winning games and even if it is on the training pitch then if you win everyone is in a better mood which builds a good spirit around the place.
Goals have been shared around this season but seem to have eluded the Rovers left back so far and his lack of goals is a bit of a disappointment to Brown but he tells us 'as long as someone else is scoring and we're winning - that's all that matters'.
"It's not really my job to score the goals but I would have liked to have a couple by now, which is a bit unusual because every season I seem to get a few.
"I have to say though that it isn't all about me, if the team are scoring and we're winning then that's the main thing.
"If we win a game 2-0 and I don't score then I couldn't really care less.
"It is nice to score but lets say that I'm saving my goals for when it is really important.
Lee's main task is keeping clean sheets, a task that Rovers have done on 14 occasions this season which is something that really pleases him.
"I think that as a back five unit we look really solid, but I think that has been the case the whole time I'm here.
"Last season we still kept a load of clean sheets so this year is just carrying on from that but it is really pleasing to keep a clean sheet.
"Hopefully we can carry that on for the remaining games of the season and that will give us a great platform to go on and win games.
