92 CHALLENGE FOR BRISTOL TEAM

16 April 2014

Charity trip to raise money for Invest in ME

FOUR football fans from Bristol have set off on a tour of all 92 football league grounds in 92 hours in aid of Invest in ME.

The group was inspired to raise money for the ME research charity by a childhood friend, who has had the condition for several years. Money raised will go towards UK trials of the drug Rituximab.

The 2,600-mile route is due to be completed in 92 hours of driving, spread out over the course of six days. The clock will be stopped every night so that each club can be visited in daylight, raising maximum publicity for the charity.

Team leader Mike Harley, a recruitment consultant from Bedminster, said: "The idea is to reach the grounds at a time where we can give out information and maximise the profile of M.E and the need for research into the illness.  It's going to be a gruelling challenge, but one as football fans we're all looking forward to!"

The team set off from Plymouth Argyle this morning and are set to reach Middlesbrough – the final club on the route – five days later. Sixty-five clubs across all four divisions, including Bristol Rovers, have so far pledged their support for the expedition.

So far, the team has raised more than £2,000. Donations can be made at: http://www.justgiving.com/teams/strobl
