Bristol Rovers 1-5 Swansea City
Attendance: 4,365 (1,073)Rovers fell to their second loss of pre-season losing 1-5 to Swansea City at the Memorial Stadium.
First half goals from Andre Ayew, Leroy Fer, Stephen Kingsley and Kyle Naughton gave the Premier League side the lead before Luke James pulled a goal back for Rovers just after half time before Wayne Routledge rounded off the game in the 68th minute
It didn't take long in the game for the Premier League side to take the lead as Andre Ayew hit the back of the net with a stunning free kick after Stuart Sinclair fouled Jack Cork after getting caught in possession.
Darrell Clarke's side looked to retaliate instantly but initially Byron Moore's shot was clocked by Frederico Fernandez before Lee Brown fired a free kick into the wall from a promising position.
Seconds later the visitors doubled their lead as Leroy Fer powered through the middle of the park before calmly slotting the ball past Steve Mildenhall.
Swansea continued to look impressive and really began asserting their dominance over Rovers but Steve Mildenhall will feel hard done by as the Swans increased their lead even further as Stephen Kingsley's cross hit Daniel Leadbitter and dropped into the far corner of the goal putting Swansea 0-3 up inside 20 minutes.
After a frantic opening 20 minutes, the game began to calm down and Rovers grew into the game. Billy Bodin looked his dangerous self as the Welshman picked up the ball on the right hand side before cutting in leaving Stephen Kingsley but his snap shot was blocked well by Jordi Amat.
Chances were rare after Bodin's blocked effort but following a foul on Nathan Dyer, Andre Ayew was presented with another scoring opportunity from another free kick. This time however Steve Mildenhall was able to gather with ease.
The Premier League side almost made if 0-4 just before half time as Leroy Fer's perfectly timed pass carved open the Rovers back line to find Nathan Dyer who fired past Mildenhall only to see his effort cleared off the line by Lee Brown.
However, the Swans didn't stop there as Nathan Dyer and Kyle Naughton linked up well before the full back took the ball superbly on his chest before firing through the legs of Steve Mildenhall to put Swansea four goals to the good.
Darrell Clarke made six changes at half time replacing his entire attacking line as Lee Mansell, Chris Lines, Liam Lawrence, Ellis Harrison, Luke James and Jermaine Easter took to the field replacing Billy Bodin, Ollie Clarke, Stuart Sinclair, Jake Gosling, Byron Moore and Matty Taylor.
It didn't take long for those changes to make an impact as Luke James scored his first goal for the club after arriving on loan. James received the ball in a tricky position before showing some fantastic footwork followed by a calm finish, slotting the ball under Kristopffer Nordfelt.
With just over an hour played Swansea made four changes of their own including bringing on Oliver McBurnie who won promotion with Rovers last season whilst on loan.
Swansea's tempo seemed to slow with the changes but restored a four goal advantage on the 68th minute. After good hold up play from Oliver McBurnie who then found Jack Cork who slipped the ball through to Wayne Routledge who gave substitute keeper Will Puddy the eyes before stroking the ball into the back of the net.
Further changes came in for both sides and the game fizzled out with the Premier League side passing the ball around in the sunshine at the Memorial Stadium.
