FAREWELL DAVE HARPER

1 July 2016

As of tomorrow, Bristol Rovers Safety Officer Dave Harper, will be standing down after 18 years in the post.

Speaking ahead of his departure, Dave said; “It has certainly been an interesting 18 years and quite a roller coaster. However it has been very enjoyable and my thanks go to a fantastic team of matchday staff, very supportive directors and, with a very few exceptions, an absolutely brilliant bunch of fans who are a credit to the club”

Dave’s position as Safety Officer will be filled another former senior police officer, Mr David Parker, from 1st July.

Mr Parker retired from the Thames Valley Police in 2015 and has extensive public order command experience at various events, including football at the Madejski Stadium, home of Reading FC.

David, who has undertaken a great deal of preparatory work for his new role, said; “Dave's stepping down will leave a huge gap to fill. However, I relish taking up the challenge with a club that is clearly on the up and I look forward to being part of a bright future for Bristol Rovers”.

Everyone at Bristol Rovers will be sad to see Dave leave his position as Safety Officer and we wish him all the best for the future. However he is not disappearing from the club altogether as he will remain with us to carry out other duties.
