The Manager looks ahead to Saturday’s visit of Peterborough United and discusses how the togetherness of the squad has helped the new additions to the team settle into the club.
Darrell Clarke conveyed that Rovers need to build on the impressive run that has seen the team stretch their unbeaten streak to five games.
"When you are on good runs there are times when certain players can get over confident," said the Manager.
"A key to our success over the past two-and-a-half years has been the ability to build consistent runs and the only way you do that is by keeping on top of players and making sure they keep on performing."
"We need to ensure complacency doesn't set in and guarantee that every time we cross that white line on a match day we prepared for the game plan and the job in hand."
Last week, Rovers secured three points on the road at Oldham thanks to goals from on-loan Chelsea duo Charlie Colkett and Jake Clarke-Salter. The Manager has praised the start that the loanees have made to life at the Memorial Ground and touched upon the togetherness of the squad in allowing the new additions to prosper.
"Our loan signings have done very well and to be honest, loan signings can be hit and miss. Our loanees have shown in the early part of the season that they can come in and make a difference and for me, they can only come in and make a difference due to the strength and the united front that we have in our existing squad."
"I'm sure that if you talk to loan players they will tell you about the desire in the group that we have got. You have to have that in your changing room before you can even start to welcome new players and for me it is what we have built our success on in the past couple of years."
On Saturday a bumper crowd is expected to fill the Mem for the visit of Peterborough United, who are well versed to life in Sky Bet League One, with Manager Darrell Clarke expecting a well-fought contest on Saturday.
"They are a very good team and have a very demanding owner. On paper, their squad is worth around three million pounds and they are expected to be a team that finishes in the top six."
"They are certainly giving it a good go in this division this year and I'm expecting a tough game on Saturday."
